Slowed + reverb, explained.
Slowed + reverb creates the familiar lower, more relaxed song edit by reducing playback speed and adding reflections. Because the audio is played more slowly, pitch falls along with speed. Reverb then gives the stretched-out notes an atmospheric tail.
Every parameter, explained
Speed
50% to 100% · Default 80%Speed sets playback rate from 50% to 100%. At 80%, the musical part lasts 1.25 times as long and pitch falls by about 3.86 semitones. At 100%, speed and pitch stay unchanged.
Reverb mix
0% to 100% · Default 35%Reverb mix controls the amount of spacious reflections. 0% leaves only the slowed recording; higher values make it more diffuse. This effect uses a fixed 3.5-second reflection tail.
A good place to start
The default 80% speed and 35% mix is a useful starting point. For a subtler version, try 90% speed and 20% mix. Compare vocals in both versions before deciding how low to go.
What to listen for
Low voices and dense bass can become muddy at slower speeds. Reducing the mix often helps speech remain understandable. The final duration includes the slower musical section plus a reverb tail when the mix is above zero.
Can I slow it without lowering pitch?
Use Tempo control instead. Slowed + reverb intentionally links speed and pitch.
