8D audio, explained.
8D audio creates a moving stereo impression by sweeping the recording smoothly between left and right. Sonic drives a stereo panner with a repeating sine wave. The label describes a popular listening effect, not eight physical dimensions or a surround-channel format.
Every parameter, explained
Rotation time
2 seconds to 20 seconds · Default 8 secondsRotation time is one full left/right cycle, from 2 to 20 seconds. A lower value moves quickly; a higher value creates a slower drift. The default is 8 seconds.
Movement
0% to 100% · Default 100%Movement ranges from 0 to 100%. Zero keeps the pan centered. Higher values reach farther toward each side; 100% uses the full left/right range.
A good place to start
Try the default 8-second cycle on headphones, then reduce movement to 50–70% if the full sweep is distracting. Use a longer cycle for gentler movement.
What to listen for
The output is stereo, including when the input is mono. Speaker listening blends both channels in the room and can make the effect weaker. This tool does not use a head-tracking or HRTF binaural model and does not automatically add reverb.
Can I add a spacious tail too?
Open the combination studio and include both 8D audio and Reverb. This dedicated page applies 8D alone.
Make a version you want to keep
Upload your audio or try the sample, adjust the controls above, then click Apply effects. Select Original and Result to compare. Change the settings and apply again to revise. Every revision starts from the untouched original, and Download WAV saves the latest applied version. The player’s Volume control changes only listening volume.
